# Referrals

Referrals are two-sided. Both wallets get a 6% points benefit, but they are not the same kind of 6%.

* **The referred wallet** (the person who used the link) gets a **1.06× boost** on the points it earns from its own holdings and eligible strategies.
* **The referrer** (the person who shared the link) earns **bonus points equal to 6% of each referred wallet's unboosted daily points**. Those bonus points are added on top of whatever the referrer earns from their own holdings.

The referrer's 6% is extra points. It is not taken from the referred wallet.\

## How to use a referral link

1. Connect your wallet at [app.re.xyz/points](https://app.re.xyz/points) and sign the wallet message to load your referral link.
2. Share `https://app.re.xyz/?ref=YOURCODE`.
3. The other person opens that link and connects their wallet. Attribution is first-touch: once a wallet is tied to a referrer, later links do not replace it. You cannot refer your own wallet.

## What each side earns

Points are calculated daily. After a wallet's unboosted daily base points are known (balance × strategy multiplier):

**Referred wallet**

daily points = unboosted daily base points × 1.06
```

**Referrer**

```
referral bonus = 0.06 × (sum of each referred wallet's unboosted daily base points)
total for the day = the referrer's own points + referral bonus
```

"Unboosted daily base points" means the points that wallet earned that day from holdings and eligible strategies, including those strategies' multipliers, **before** the referred wallet's own 1.06× boost. The referrer's 6% is not applied to:

* the referred wallet's 1.06× boost itself
* points the referred wallet earned by referring other people
* wallets further down the chain (if A refers B and B refers C, A earns 6% of B only, not of C)

If you refer several people, the 6% amounts **add**. Referring someone does not multiply your own farming points.

## Worked example

Alice refers Bob. On a given day:

* Alice's own holdings earn **20M** unboosted points. Alice did not join through a referral link.
* Bob's holdings earn **100M** unboosted points.

| Bob (referred)   | 100M           | 100M × 6% = 6M boost on his own points | **106M**           |
| Alice (referrer) | 20M            | 100M × 6% = 6M bonus points            | **26M**            |

Alice does **not** receive `20M × 1.06 = 21.2M`. Bob's size is what determines Alice's referral bonus that day. If Bob had earned 1M, 100M, or 1B unboosted points, Alice's bonus would be 6% of that number.

If Alice had herself joined through a referral link, her own 20M would also be multiplied by 1.06 (to 21.2M), and she would still receive the 6M referral bonus (for a total of 27.2M that day).

If Alice refers ten wallets that each earn 100M unboosted points that day:

Alice's total = 20M + (10 × 6M) = 80M
```

That is a sum of ten separate 6% bonuses, not `20M × 1.60` or `20M × 1.06^10`. There is no extra multiplier on Alice's own 20M just for having referrals.

* **Your Referrals** lists wallets that used your link.
* Referral bonus points appear as their own line in the points breakdown, separate from strategy points.
* You can earn referral points even on days when you hold no reUSD or reUSDe, as long as wallets you referred earn base points that day.
