Minting

How to mint reUSD and reUSDe.

Eligibility & Prerequisites

In order to mint reUSD/reUSDe, you must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Jurisdictional eligibility: reUSD and reUSDe are available to users in most countries worldwide. You can confirm that your jurisdiction is supported here.

  • KYC/AML completion: See below.

  • A compatible wallet extension or app that supports EVM networks (e.g., MetaMask or Walletconnect).

  • Assets for minting purposes:

    • reUSD: USDC, DAI, sUSDe, USDe

    • reUSDe: USDe, sUSDe

  • A compatible wallet extension or app

KYC/KYB (Mandatory)

Why does Re require mandatory KYC/KYB?

A portion of protocol capital is deployed into reinsurance programs operated by Re’s reinsurance partner, CoverRe SPC Ltd., licensed in the Cayman Islands and regulated by the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA). As a standard regulatory requirement, Cover Re SPC Ltd. must verify that:

  • Capital providers are not sanctioned individuals or entities

  • Funds are not connected to money laundering or other prohibited activity

Who needs it, and what's supported?

Completion is required for every participant, both individuals and legal entities (i.e. companies, foundations, DAOs with legal wrappers) in order to mint or redeem tokens.

Individuals: Standard KYC identity verification (government-issued ID + liveness check)

Entities: Entity-level KYB verification, including beneficial ownership documentation. To start KYB, email hello@re.xyz with your entity name and jurisdiction; a member of the team will respond within 48 hours with the document checklist and intake form.

If your country is unsupported by the KYC provider, you will be notified during the verification process.

Who runs KYC, and what data is collected?

Re partners with a third-party KYC/AML provider to conduct verification. During the process, you will be asked to provide:

  • Full legal name and date of birth (individuals)

  • Government-issued photo ID (passport, national ID, or driver's license)

  • Proof of address (for some jurisdictions)

  • Tax ID

  • Liveness / selfie check

Note that Re itself does not store raw identity documents directly; these are handled and retained solely by the KYC provider.

Data handling & privacy

Your personal data is processed by Re's third-party KYC provider and is used solely for the purpose of identity verification and sanctions screening. Data is handled in accordance with applicable data protection laws. Re does not share your personal data with third parties beyond what is required for regulatory compliance. For full details, refer to Re's Privacy Policy.

What happens if KYC fails?

Minting

KYC (step-by-step flow)

1

Go to the app.

Visit app.re.xyz/reusd (for reUSD) or app.re.xyz/reusde (for reUSDe).

2

Connect your wallet.

Connect a compatible wallet (such as Metamask). Provide an email address and agree to the Platform Agreement when prompted.

3

Select your deposit asset and amount.

Choose the approved token you wish to deposit and enter the amount. The interface will display the protocol tokens you will receive in return.

4

Review and accept the fee schedule and Token Purchase Agreement (TPA).

Before proceeding, you will be shown the applicable fee schedule and the Token Purchase Agreement. Read both carefully and confirm your acceptance. This step confirms your understanding of the minting process, fees, and escrow conditions.

5

Deposit your funds.

Your assets are transferred to an onchain escrow contract, wherein they are held securely while KYC is completed.

6

Complete KYC.

Follow the on-screen prompts to submit your identity documentation via Re's KYC provider. This typically takes a few minutes.

7

KYC outcome:

  • Pass: Your reUSD or reUSDe tokens are minted and sent directly to your wallet. Idle assets are automatically swept to a Fireblocks vault and begin earning yield.

  • Fail / additional info needed: You will be prompted to submit further documentation. Alternatively, you may request the release of your funds by contacting support via hello@re.xyz
