This section provides a curated list of helpful resources for going deeper on reinsurance, the broader insurance market, and the onchain real-world-asset ecosystem Re sits within. We've grouped them by purpose. If you're new to the space, the items marked ★ are the best starting points.

The industry's standard primer. Detailed but readable, with a comprehensive glossary of terms. Probably the single best free PDF on the subject.

A free 90-page course-style PDF that goes deeper than the typical primer, with worked examples and end-of-chapter exercises. Useful if you want to go from "I get it" to "I really get it."
* [Reinsurance Education Institute](https://www.reinsurance.org/RAA/RAA/Events/Reinsurance%20Education.aspx) (RAA). The industry's professional education arm. Hosts in-person seminars (Re Basics, Re Claims, Re Finance) for those who want formal training.

These are the publications working reinsurance professionals actually read. The first three are the highest-signal for someone trying to track the market in real time.

* ★ [Reinsurance News](https://www.reinsurancene.ws/). A daily news feed focused exclusively on reinsurance. Good for tracking deals, market movements, and personnel changes.
* ★ [Artemis](https://www.artemis.bm/). The longest-running publication covering catastrophe bonds, ILS, and alternative reinsurance capital. Essential reading for anyone interested in how capital markets connect to insurance risk — which is exactly the bridge Re is building.
* [The Insurer](https://www.theinsurer.com/). A leading global publication with strong coverage of specialty reinsurance, the London market, and the U.S. specialty/E\&S sector.
* [Insurance Business: Reinsurance](https://www.insurancebusinessmag.com/reinsurance/news/breaking-news/). Free reinsurance section with broad daily coverage.
* [Insurance Journal: Reinsurance](https://www.insurancejournal.com/reinsurance/). Strong U.S.-focused coverage from a long-running trade publication.
* [Global Reinsurance](https://www.globalreinsurance.com/). International coverage with a focus on broker insights and renewal dynamics.

### Market reports and data

These are the periodic reports the industry uses to track capital, capacity, and pricing. They are the closest thing to "market structure data" for reinsurance.

* [Aon — Reinsurance Market Dynamics](https://www.aon.com/en/insights/reports/reinsurance-market-dynamics). Published twice a year (after January 1 and mid-year renewals). Tracks global reinsurance capital, return on equity, and renewal pricing across lines and geographies. The single best free read for understanding the state of the market.
* [Guy Carpenter — Renewal Resource Center](https://www.guycarp.com/insights/renewal-hub.html). Marsh's reinsurance broker publishes detailed renewal commentary and capital-tracking charts.
* Gallagher Re, Howden Re, and other broker reports. Each of the major reinsurance brokers publishes its own renewal commentary; collectively they give you a multi-perspective read on market conditions. Linked from Artemis's news feed when published.

For understanding the legal and regulatory architecture that reinsurance operates within. Particularly relevant for understanding why Cover Re is structured the way it is.

* ★ [NAIC — Reinsurance Topic Page](https://content.naic.org/industry_reinsurance.htm). The U.S. regulatory framework, including the Credit for Reinsurance Model Law, Certified Reinsurer and Reciprocal Jurisdiction Reinsurer regimes, and how collateral requirements work for non-U.S. reinsurers.
* [A Regulator's Introduction to the Insurance Industry](https://content.naic.org/sites/default/files/inline-files/prod_serv_marketreg_rii_zb.pdf) — NAIC. A long-form PDF aimed at new state regulators. Genuinely good background reading for understanding how the U.S. insurance system is supervised.

For listeners who prefer audio.

* ★ [Reinventing Insurance (Oliver Wyman)](https://oliverwyman.com) — "Why Serial Founders Win At Building Insurtech Empires." Hosted by Oliver Wyman partner Paul Ricard. Karn walks through his arc from Stylekick to Cover to Re, with a substantive section on why he believes reinsurance needs new infrastructure and how transparency drives liquidity. The best single audio resource for understanding why Re exists, told from the insurance industry's perspective. Roughly 30 minutes. First broadcast July 2022; full transcript on the page.
* [Startup Savant](https://startupsavant.com/startup-savant-podcast/episodes/re) — "How Hiring (And Firing) Can Make or Break Your Startup with Re." Hosted by Ethan Peyton. The first ten minutes are a clean, plain-English explanation of reinsurance from first principles, including Karn's "reinsurance is the ocean and insurance companies are boats" framing and his case for why blockchain belongs in insurance. The rest of the episode is on hiring, firing, and management — useful for founders, but not the focus for readers here.

The largest insurtech podcast, 870+ episodes and counting, updated weekly. Wide-ranging coverage of underwriting, insurtech, AI in insurance, and broader risk topics. Useful for getting a feel for how working insurance practitioners talk about the industry.
